Your Perfect Fantasy Wedding Design

Planning a wedding is a stressful time, without any outside influences. Whilst to many this could be seen as one of the most stressful times to plan a wedding, you should see it as a golden opportunity to create your perfect fantasy wedding design.

In a recent interview for Destination I do magazine, I suggested that you should use this time to do your research for your wedding and here is how to start.

Step 1

First off, don’t rush into collecting lots of pretty photos, (well you can if you want).

You need to have a plan not just for your wedding, but also your wedding design.

So start to think of all the things you would like to include, remember this is your fantasy wedding, so you can be as mad as you like. Write them all down.

Step 2

Now think of how you want to feel on your wedding day, how you would like your guests to feel and write this list down as well.

Think of the style of photos you would like to have as a memory of the day to look back over in years to come.

Step 3

Now comes the part where you think about your venue (if you have picked one) what are the parts of the venue you love and want to showcase.

Only now are you ready to start picking your photos.

Start with your Pinterest boards. If you want an idea of how to lay them out, you can visit my Pinterest account and see how I lay my boards out.

Create a board called wedding master, maybe one called wedding photography, wedding tables, colours, flowers, cakes, you get the idea.

Look at photos on wedding blogs, Instagram, websites etc and start pinning to your hearts content.

Look back at the end of each pinning session and write down the first word that comes to mind of what you have picked.

You will soon start to see a thread emerging that pulls all of your images together.

Step 4

Now go back to the list you created at the very beginning about the style of wedding you wanted to create. The way you want to feel and how you want your guests to feel and check in to see if you are on the right track.

Here is where you need to hone your plan. Start to edit the photos, you will find the very first few photos you have picked are slightly different to the ones picked at the end of your session, so what is happening now is your actual true wedding style is coming out.

You now should have a better idea of the colours of your wedding, the overall style for the day, the fashion, the photography, table design etc. Some people think that your wedding design is just your flowers or styling, but in reality it’s the whole day as a complete. Your wedding day is a reflection of you and your style (whether real or imaginary) and you have started on the beginning of that journey.
