8 Vintage Wedding Ideas

Tip 1: A Lace Wedding Dress

Pick out a wedding dress with some lace on it. It can be full-length or just past the knees, lace will tie the whole vintage theme together. Capped sleeves and ¾ length sleeves go well with the vintage look you’re going for. Here’s an example from mdresses.com.

Tip 2: Add Pearls & Antique Brooches to Your Bouquet

It’s as easy as it sounds. To go with the vintage look, we recommend that you have a more muted bouquet made up of soft pinks, creams, whites, and peach coloured flowers. Wrap the stems in some cream coloured lace and attach your favourite brooch. Add some pearls throughout the bouquet for that extra touch of old-fashioned flare.

Tip 3: Antique Bird Cages

Antique bird cages are very versatile and can add so much to the vintage wedding look. You could use them as centrepieces by adding fairy lights, candles, roses, or ivy vines. You could use them at a sweets table and place desserts in them. You can even set them up at the reception table for decoration next to the guest book. Check Pinterest for more inspiration!

Tip 4: Lanterns

The use of lanterns has been used throughout the years to light the way. They are the perfect symbol for your wedding day, the start to a bright future for you and your partner. Lanterns can also be used as centrepieces with candles and flowers being the best way to give you a simple vintage appearance. We recommend hydrangeas, roses, and baby’s-breath.

Tip 5: Muted Table Cloths & Lace

The table setting is the pinnacle of success of your vintage wedding. Muted colours are best for that old-fashioned look you are going for. Dusty rose, blush, ivory, even light browns can be transformative. Lace gives you that pure and elegant look. Add a lace table cloth over that makes for the perfect foundation for your tableware, glassware, and cutlery.

Tip 7: Gold Cutlery & Gold Rimmed Glassware

Gold rimmed crockery & cutlery is becoming ever popular year on year. We recommend using gold cutlery as opposed to classic silverware for a more vintage looking table setting. Gold-rimmed glassware is the perfect pairing for a complete table setting. Bring on the champagne!

Tip 8: Charming Chairs

Our last vintage wedding tip is to keep the chairs simple. Dressing chairs is a widespread trend. How do I dress a chair to make it vintage? Well one way is to tie some lace around the back, but our favourite trick is to add some simple flowers to the back and attach paper hearts with names of the guests.
